Welcome to the website of the

First Workshop on Machine Learning under Weakly Structured Information!

The workshop will take place on 3./4. May 2024. For a detailed program click the corresponding point in the above navigation bar.

The idea of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on machine learning problems that appear under weak information structures and, therefore, fail to be analyzed by traditional methods. The reason for the weak structure can be manifold, ranging from complex data and non-typical scales of measurement to generalized uncertainty models such as imprecise probabilities, to only name some. In particular, the topics of the workshop include (but are not limited to):

  • Uncertainty quantification

  • ML and statistics under weakly structured information

  • Imprecise probabilities in statistics and ML

  • Preferences in ML

  • Decision theoretic approaches in ML

  • Formal concept analysis and non-standard data (e.g. ordinal data)

  • (Generalized) Bayesian methods

  • Foundations of statistical learning

The workshop is organized by the Foundations of Statistics group of the Department of Statistics at LMU Munich. Specifically, the following people are involved in the organization (in alphabetic order):

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Christoph Jansen or Hannah Blocher.

Registration: Participation is free of charge. However, for guaranteeing a smooth organisation, it is required to register for the workshop. More information on registration will be available soon.

Confirmed speakers (alphabetic order): Thomas Augustin (LMU), Hannah Blocher (LMU), Armando Cabrera (University of Tübingen),Rabanus Derr (University of Tübingen), Dominik Dürrschnabel (University of Kassel), Christian Fröhlich (University of Tübingen), Cornelia Gruber (LMU), Tobias Hille (University of Kassel), Johannes Hirth (University of Kassel), Benedikt Höltgen (University of Tübingen), Eyke Hüllermeier (LMU), Laura Iacovissi (University of Tübingen), Christoph Jansen (LMU), Julian Rodemann (LMU), Yusuf Sale (LMU), Georg Schollmeyer (LMU), Tom Sterkenburg (LMU), Lisa Wimmer (LMU)

Venue: The workshop will take place at Room 145 of the Department of Statistics of LMU Munich (Ludwigstrasse 33, 80539 München). From Munich Central, take U4/U5 to Odeonsplatz (2 stops) and switch there to U3/U6 to Universität (1 stop). The Department of Statistics is close by (see map).
